When we talked about moving and the things that were important to us, having a yard was among the top priorities. And beyond the discussions of the yard, we chatted and dreamed about the kind of playset or clubhouse we’d build. Lots of google searches and lots and lots of pinning on Pinterest. Lots of discussions about how much to budget for such a project.
But guess what?
So far, boredom is proving to be the best playset of all.
I’m not ruling out that we may still build some type of clubhouse or playset, but right now, no one is asking for one. And some pretty amazing adventures are happening out there. Right now, it’s this:
She wears virtually the same thing each and every time. And always grabs her backpack and and a pair of safety glasses (not my idea, but certainly not a bad one). Then, she happily spends hours creating adventures right outside our door.
She takes a small shovel and digs up rocks. She builds piles of rocks. And she also hacks down “vines” with a pair of scissors in that backpack. She’s building trails. And discovering where the thorns and thistles are.
She also found a dead chipmunk. Which she’s obsessed with. I’ll spare you a photo.
She discovered where her trails meet up with the trails through the trees in the neighbors yard. And she showed the neighbor boys the dead chipmunk too. No one was brave enough to touch it at the time, but Mayhem has informed me that she went back and touched it with her foot.
I’ll be burning those shoes later today.
I know it’s cliche, but I guess adventure really is out there. I’m just glad we realized it before we shelled out the big bucks for a clubhouse. Maybe with all that money we’re saving, we can afford to buy a replacement pair of shoes too 😉
